The Professional Retail Store Maintenance Association's (PRSM) board has adopted a new policy governance model that strategically positions the organization for future growth, and prepares it for a leadership transition.
“Going forward, the board will have significantly less involvement with the PRSM staff, committees, daily operations and programs," said Bryan Walker, 2015-16 chair of PRSM's board. “The board's focus will be to provide strategic guidance and set expected outcomes.”
The next change under the new governance model will be in the executive leadership of PRSM. Under the new model, the chief staff executive will be the CEO, which will replace the executive director position used in the old model. Currently, the executive director reports to the chief elected officer of the board. Under the governance model, the CEO reports to the entire board.
The Search Committee researched several reputable search firms who specialize in identifying executive candidates for associations and other organizations. Sterling Martin Associates, an executive search firm specializing in associations and nonprofits, has been retained to lead the search for PRSM’s CEO.
“Our board includes some very experienced industry leaders,” said Walker. “They have a great vision for what PRSM can be, and we have the experienced staff in place to execute on that vision. The governance model is a tool that we will use to move forward along this journey as we take PRSM to the next level together."
