The Floor Educational Guild will host its first wood education classes out west July 30 through Aug. 1 in Denver.
"I earned my Bachelor of Science degree from Colorado State University so I am excited to come back to beautiful Colorado," said Joe Loferski, professor of wood mechanics at Virginia Tech University. "The short course will reinforce the basics of wood science as applied to wood flooring performance. We will then proceed to cover advanced topics related to inspections of floors, determining how to diagnose the root causes of performance problems such as gaps, cupping, or crowning."
In addition to Loferski and other professors, experienced wood flooring contractors and inspectors, with years of experience, will contribute to sessions and discussions.
Topics covered during the three-day event will include wood characteristics, adhesives, moisture and finishes.
