Beginning this fall, CSI’s Construction Documents Technology program (CDT) exam is available to candidates in Africa, Europe, and the Middle East. Candidates living in these regions may register for the exam now at www.csinet.org/cdtinternational.

The CDT program has provided foundation training in construction documentation for architects, contractors, contract administrators, specifiers, and manufacturers’ representatives for decades.

“CSI is pleased to now offer the CDT exam to international candidates,” said CSI Executive Director and CEO Walter Marlowe, P.E., CSI, CAE. “Earning the CDT credential allows industry professionals to demonstrate their comprehensive knowledge of writing and managing construction documents, as well as their understanding of the project delivery process from start to finish.”

The computer-based exam will be administered at test centers throughout Africa, Europe, and the Middle East September 30 - October 26, 2013. The CDT exam is offered overseas on the same dates it is offered in North America, with the same registration deadlines.

The CDT program allows individuals to demonstrate their knowledge of CSI’s recommended practices in the following areas:

  • Construction
  • Contractual Relationships
  • Relationships and Organization of Construction Documents

The CDT is the cornerstone of CSI’s certification program, and it is a prerequisite to CSI’s advanced certification exams: Certified Construction Specifier (CCS), Certified Construction Contract Administrator (CCCA), and Certified Construction Product Representative (CCPR). At this time the advanced exams are only offered in the United States and Canada.

Exam Requirements

There are no formal eligibility requirements for the CDT program. Membership in CSI is not required, however, CSI members have access to a number of exam-taking benefits, including reduced rates for exam registration, study materials, and CSI events.

The registration fee for the exam when taken overseas is $420 for CSI members, while the fee for non-members is $540. The registration deadline is August 31, 2013.
