InterfaceFLOR's Bandy named to USGBC Board of Directors
George Bandy Jr., vp sustainability strategy and diversity for InterfaceFLOR, has been elected to a three-year term as a member of the United States Green Building Council (USGBC) Board of Directors.
Bandy, who has been active in USGBC since the organization’s founding in 1993, has served in leadership capacities on both a national and local level. A LEED accredited professional, he is former chairman of the Georgia chapter and on the National Social Equity Committee, the North Carolina Chapter Advisory Board and the Green Economy Board. As a member of Interface’s distinguished “Green Team” speakers bureau, Bandy often is tapped to address audiences nationwide about sustainability issues and practices.
Before joining InterfaceFLOR in 2000, Bandy was the sustainable development officer for the University of Texas-Houston. He is a graduate of Morehouse College, where he earned his B.A. with a minor in Environmental Business Management. He is the second individual from InterfaceFLOR to take a seat on the USGBC Board of Directors, preceded by Jim Hartzfeld, managing director of InterfaceRAISE, the sibling business unit responsible for helping to educate and mentor businesses on becoming sustainable.
