The Maryland and Northern Virginia Floor Covering Association (MDNVFCA) is urging flooring retailers and contractors to attend legislative hearings on Wednesday, March 21, and Thursday, March 22. At these meetings, legislators will introduce bills that would make changes to the Workplace Fraud Act of 2009.
The bills would change some of the legislation of the 2009 act as we as some of the regulations used to enforce the law, and are supported by legislators including Delegate Kelly Schultz and Senator Catherine Pugh. According to MDNVFCA, those who attend the meetings would not have to testify. "You don't have to be testify...just be there! The only thing it is going to cost you is your time and parking. If you can bring someone with you, great. Bodies count," the group noted in a recent message to its members.
The hearings are set for 1 p.m. March 21, Lowe House Office Bldg., Economic Matters Committee Hearing Room (second floor), 6 Bladen Street, Annapolis, Md., for HB 1364; and 1 p.m. March 22, Miller Senate Office Bldg., Finance Committee Hearing Room (third floor), 11 Bladen St., Annapolis, Md., for SB 1005.
The MDNVFCA also asks members of the industry to consider making a donation to its legal fund. For more information, clickhere.
