Natick and Hanover, Mass.-based Dover Rug & Home has announced its sponsorship of the second annual “Showdown at Symphony II” - the World Squash Champions Challenge taking place on Wednesday, September 14, at Symphony Hall in Boston.
The 2011 “Showdown at Symphony,” presented by First Republic Bank, features four squash competitors that have achieved World No. 1 status or have won the World Open. The players competing this year are Nick Matthew from England, Ramy Ashour from Egypt, Jonathon Power from Canada and Peter Nicol from England.
“Showdown at Symphony” donates 50% of the net event proceeds to SquashBusters, the first non-profit youth enrichment program to combine squash, academics, and community service. SquashBusters is based at Northeastern University in Boston and serves 120 urban youths annually. It is an intensive, after-school program that combines academic enrichment, athletics, community service and character development.
“We are thrilled to be a sponsor of Showdown at Symphony,” said Mahmud Jafri, owner of Dover Rug & Home. “This event benefits a great cause and Dover Rug & Home has always been a long-time supporter of international squash. In fact, our new facility, opening later this fall right down the street here on Route 9, will include a professional regulation squash club. We hope that it will inspire others to learn more about the sport while at the same time promote the importance of a healthy lifestyle.”
