Universal Textile Technologies (UTT) has announced that its BioCel, EnviroCel and EnviroCel Home backing systems have been third-party verified by UL Environment as meeting the requirements and criteria that a backing supplier needs for a NSF 140 certification. This step allows manufacturers to use UTT carpet backing that is already UL verified if they are applying for full NSF 140 certification through UL environment.

According to UTT, companies that choose UTT’s range of carpet backings will be "that much closer to making a finished product that can itself be classified NSF-140 certified."
