Mohawk Industries has published its second annual sustainability report. The report, available exclusively online atwww.mohawksustainability.com, details the company’s commitment to finding sustainable solutions in every business segment throughout the world with regards to people, places and products.

“Our shareholders, our customers, our consumers and the men and women around the world who make, deliver, sell and support our products are this company’s inspiration for becoming better every year,” said Jeff Lorberbaum, chairman and ceo of Mohawk Industries. “As our sustainable practices evolve each year, we continue to lead the industry in making positive changes that impact our organization, our communities and our world.”

Mohawk’s sustainable practices include expansions into new markets that will lower energy costs associated with transporting materials over long distances; health and wellness initiatives; and recycling efforts that will save millions of gallons of clean water and thousands of trees worldwide, according to the company.

“From our corporate board room to every individual on the plant floor, this report is really about people working together for a common goal,” stated William Kilbride, chief sustainability officer at Mohawk Industries. “Our goal is to make sure that everyone benefits from our sustainable practices in the long run - not only our shareholders - but our people, our customers and the consumer, as well.”

This year’s report includes new measures of sustainability at Mohawk and reflects how positive changes and improvements globally are benefiting Mohawk’s stakeholders.

“Everything that is important to our stakeholders is important to us,” noted Jenny Cross, global sustainability director at Mohawk Industries. “We value the myriad stakeholders that impact our business daily and are committed to open communication and transparency in all of our reporting practices, which is why we use an independent auditor to review all information before the report’s release.”

By offering a wide-ranging document that follows Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) guidelines, Mohawk continues to demonstrate its commitment to a meaningful and accessible review of its operations and practices, the company added.

For the second year in a row, the Sustainability team at Mohawk has enlisted highly regarded FIRA as its report assurance provider. Headquartered in the Netherlands, FIRA is a global company that ensures that all sustainability data is validated and analyzed in accordance with GRI standards.

“This is the most comprehensive and complete sustainability report that we have released yet,” stated Cross. “As a company, we committed to reporting more information this year, and that’s exactly what we’ve done. Not only is this report more complete, but it is also more personal, with video, interactive stories and a variety of new information that can be found on our website.”
