MAPEI Group has recently completed the acquisition of all activities for construction industry adhesives and products from Henkel in South Korea, under the Ceresit and Thomsit trademarks.
The acquisition has been made through a new company, MAPEI Korea, with head offices in Seoul and a production facility in Chungcheongbuk-do, 100 kilometers from Seoul. The facility is the MAPEI Group's 58th plant.
With this acquisition, MAPEI said it intends to strongly increase its presence in South Korea, and create a production base for the North Pacific zone. This expansion falls within the framework of an investment program for more than 200 million EUR in the Asia-Pacific region (including Oceania), which will be managed by the regional headquarters in Singapore, under the guidance of Marcel Smit.
MAPEI Korea will keep producing the trademark Ceresit and Thomsit products for up to three years, and also offer the wide range of MAPEI products.
