Florida Tile has donated more than 90,000 sq. ft. of porcelain floor tile to charitable partners the Mountain Re-Source Center and Operation Compassion for the rebuilding efforts in Haiti.
“The rebuilding effort will be a long one,” said Dan Marvin, Florida Tile’s director of quality assurance and technical services. “The earthquake left over 250,000 homes and 30,000 commercial and government buildings destroyed. … We will continue to send tile to Haiti as long as there is a need.”
Marvin noted that Haitians are accustomed to using tile products and can often lay and finish the tile work themselves. The newly tiled floors are often stronger and more structurally stable than those they replaced.
“Through our partnerships like those with the Mountain Re-Source Center and Operation Compassion, we are able to reach out to people in their time of greatest need,” Marvin added.
