David Meberg poses near the sign of the new foster care center named in his honor.

Judith D. Kydon, executive director of Saint Dominic’s Home, recently welcomed more than 100 guests and staff to the official dedication of the David T. Meberg Family Service Center at 853 Longwood Avenue in the Bronx. The center was named in honor of David T. Meberg, principal, president and ceo of New York City-based Consolidated Carpet.

Consolidated Carpet is one of the industry’s largest full-service floor covering contractors, serving clients worldwide. Meberg is also president of the Greater New York Floor Coverers Association and past chairman of the Floor Covering Installation Contractors Association. Meberg serves as a trustee of the New York District Council of Carpenters Benefit Funds and director of the New York City Carpenters Labor Management Corporation.

Meberg’s relationship with the Friends of Saint Dominic’s Home, the fund-raising arm of Saint Dominic’s Home, goes back to the early '90s. For the past 13 years he has served on the Board of Directors of Friends of Saint Dominic’s, based in Blauvelt, N.Y., and has held many chair positions on various fund-raising events.

Meberg said he was fortunate to play a role in helping Saint Dominic’s Home provide the highest quality of service to the children and families it serves.  Fund-raising efforts in which Meberg was involved played an instrumental role in helping nearly 100 Saint Dominic’s Home employees move from a dilapidated building into a new safe and modern facility where children and families in foster care receive counseling and services. The new 5,500 sq. ft. center houses family foster care and therapeutic foster care operated by Saint Dominic’s Home and serves more than 873 children and families in the Bronx.

Meberg’s wife Roseanne and their three children stood proudly by his side as the facility was officially named the David T. Meberg Family Service Center. Colleagues, family members and friends of Meberg joined with Saint Dominic’s Home staff and family foster care clients to celebrate the occasion with a reception.
