Jerald L. Glatz, vp of Florida operations for Burke Flooring in Umatilla, Fla., has received the 2010 ASTM International Award of Merit and accompanying title of fellow.  

Glatz received the award from ASTM Committee F06 on Resilient Floor Coverings for his work in the development and maintenance of flooring standards and related test methods. The Award of Merit is the highest society award granted to an individual ASTM member for distinguished service and outstanding participation in committee activities.

An ASTM International member since 1992, Glatz currently leads F06 as chairman and participates on several F06 subcommittees, including the U.S. Technical Advisory Group to ISO TC 219 on Floor Coverings (F06.92). Committee F06 recognized his contributions with a Service Award in 2004.  He also works on several other ASTM committees in addition to F06, including D22 on Air Quality, E05 on Fire Standards, E06 on Performance of Buildings, E12 on Color and Appearance, E60 on Sustainability and F13 on Pedestrian/Walkway Safety and Footwear.

Glatz has more than 39 years of experience in the rubber, plastics and resilient floor industries.  In his role at Burke Flooring, Glatz manages facility operations and is also responsible for new extruded product development, compound formulation and continual improvement through expansion and cost reduction initiatives. He has been awarded 19 U.S. patents for resilient flooring product designs.
