More than 340,000 trees in nine species were planted in the Tahoe National Forest in California between May 3 and June 29 this year after donations to the National Arbor Day Foundation made by CarpetsPlus Color Tile. The retail group made a donation to the foundation with every purchase of the company's EcoChoice carpet, hardwood or cushion. Most of the trees were planted by a contracted crew of professional tree planters and a small amount of seedlings were planted by Forest Service employees. The goal was to speed the recovery of trees lost to intense fires and bark beetles.
