Invista Performance Surfaces & Materials is adding to its research and development with more than $14 million in capital investments at its nylon fiber manufacturing facilities in Camden, S.C.; Dalton, Ga.; and Kingston, Ontario. Start-up is expected to begin in the third quarter of this year.
According to Invista, these investments will help the company create products that can be produced with less energy and include more recycled and renewable content.
In addition, the investment is expected to help Invista bring new products and applications to the residential and commercial flooring markets with improved aesthetics and performance, as well as light industrial nylon fibers with improved functionality. These are expected to be achieved with reduced innovation cycle-time, Invista noted.
“Invista Performance Surfaces & Materials plans to forge ahead in its efforts to differentiate our branded and premium product offerings -- including Stainmaster carpet, Antron carpet fiber, and nylon 6,6 airbag fiber -- from the rest of the market by introducing innovations and new products,” said Dan Stone, Invista president, Performance Surfaces & Materials. “These investments show our continued commitment to delivering value to our customers through our global brands and products that they widely recognize and trust.”
Invista’s global businesses include the Antron, Stainmaster and Tactesse brands. For more information, visitwww.invista.com.
