Two Texas flooring retailers announced today they have merged. Scott Steel, owner of three My Flooring America floor covering stores in the Houston region, and Kelby Frederick, owner of two Flooring America operations in the Dallas area, said they merged their family owned-and-operated stores on Jan. 1.
All five of Steel and Frederick’s locations now fall under the My Flooring America name, including the Denton and Texarkana locations formerly known as Flooring America. The two families have a combined 61 years of serving the Texas region in the flooring business. All five stores are part of the Flooring America network.
“This merger will allow us to further develop a truly dedicated customer service process that will be with our customers every step of the way,” Frederick said.
“Some companies merge out of necessity. But we merged because our stores were in great positions, and we saw the opportunity to continue growing our business together rather than as separate companies,” Steel added.
In addition to the five stores currently in operation, Steel and Frederick are set to open a new My Flooring America location in Flower Mound, Texas, in late February. Steel and Frederick’s stores employ about 50 people, with the number expected to rise with the addition of the new store.
