Two laminate flooring makers were recently granted patents to help protect their intellectual property in international markets. Unilin Flooring was granted a patent from Europe for its glueless flooring systems. Faus received a patent from China for its Embossed-In-Register process.
The Unilin patent from the European Patent Office (EP 1 541 778 B1) covers Unilin’s glueless flooring systems that can be angled at the long side and snapped at the short side. It includes products with either angle-snap or angle-push joints.
Faus’ patent from the State Intellectual Property Office in China (ZL 02815741.9) protects the company’s Embossed-In-Register manufacturing process. The company sees it as a counterpart to a similar patent issued in the U.S. in 2003 (U.S. Patent No. 6,638,387).
