The construction of Uniboard's new Medium and High Density Fiberboard Plant in Moncure, N.C. is well underway. “Construction of our new Moncure MDF facility continues to advance on schedule,” said James Hogg, CEO of Uniboard. "Not only will it be the biggest and most cost efficient mill in North America, it will also have the most technologically advanced equipment capable of producing the highest quality panels you can depend on."

Eighty percent of the foundation is complete and 50 percent of production and warehouse areas are also completed. Most of the floors under the roof have been poured and most heavy equipment has been set in place, the company said.

The new MDF/HDF plant will be able to produce multiple grades, thicknesses and sizes for manufacturers of kitchen cabinetry, office and residential furniture, as well as store fixtures, flooring and molding. AsNFThas previously reported, the plant will also supply materials to sister company Pergo.

Uniboard’s Moncure MDF facility will be part of a Moncure-based mega-site, which currently offers particleboard and thermofused melamine panels, providing true one-stop-shop capabilities for customers. "As a distributor or if you buy direct, how many panel companies can bring this type of flexibility to the game?" Hogg noted. Start-up is planned for Q4 of this year.
