Greg Jones, Mohawk Industries' senior environmental engineer, has been elected to the Board of Directors of the Georgia Industry Environmental Coalition for 2009. Formed in 1992, the GIEC is a non-profit group of environmentally regulated businesses in Georgia. Its members advocate regulations that are "both protective and cost-efficient."
“It’s an honor to serve on the Board of such a well respected organization,” Jones said. “I’m looking forward to working with the Board and member representatives on environmental policy issues that could affect Georgia’s industrial sector.”
Mohawk Industries is well-known for its GreenWorks program, which is the umbrella name for the company's wide-ranging green projects and initiatives. Mohawk is one of the largest recyclers in the flooring industry, diverting more than 3 billion pounds of pre- and post-consumer waste from landfills.
