Tile maker Questech Corp., based in Rutland, Vt., was
recently recognized with the Vermont Governor’s Award for Environmental
Excellence and Pollution Prevention. One of three companies singled out for the
honor, Questech received the award for reducing emissions at its plant through “a
unique combination of chemistry, process and engineering.”
“This award reflects our commitment to pollution prevention, waste
management and recycling and we hope this project inspires other businesses to
join in our clean-air efforts,” commented Barry Culkin, president and CEO of
Questech.
Winners were selected from a group
of “Vermont
individuals, organizations, institutions, public agencies, businesses and
industry using innovative approaches that reduce or eliminate the generation of
pollutants and wastes at the source,” according to Questech.
Culkin
noted that the award reflects Questech’s commitment to “the innovative and cutting
edge.”
“Questech has always been innovative and cutting edge in our approach to
the tile industry, and we are applying that same way of thinking to how we can
minimize our impact on the environment,” he said. “We are committed to being a
responsible corporate citizen and that means caring about the well being of our
employees, the community where we are located, and our customers.”
