Armstrong laminate sales event to benefit cancer charity
Armstrong Flooring is partnering with Abbey Carpet & Floor and Floors To Go for a national consumer sales event to run Sept. 15 – Nov. 15th, to benefit Gilda’s Club Worldwide, a non-profit cancer support organization.
The sale is designed to help increase store traffic and build laminate flooring sales during the key fall selling season. During the promotional period, a special web page – www.armstrong.com/laminatesale – will be available for consumers to locate information about participating Abbey Carpet & Floor and Floors To Go retailers.
When a consumer purchases Armstrong Laminate Flooring, a portion of the proceeds will be donated to Gilda’s Club, a network of affiliate clubhouses where men, women and children, as well as their friends and families, meet to learn how to live with cancer, whatever the outcome. Gilda’s Club is named in memory of comedian Gilda Radner who died from ovarian cancer in 1989. She is best known for her work on Saturday Night Live. Her book, “It’s Always Something,” describes her life with cancer.
“We are excited to partner with two great organizations,” said Gilda’s Club Worldwide Chairman Laura Wheat. “Gilda’s Clubs have been in the forefront of cancer support for 18 years, and we look forward to focusing increasing attention on the importance of emotional and social support for everyone with ties to cancer in the years ahead.”
The sale will involve hundreds of Abbey Carpet & Floors To Go locations across the country that will specially decorate their stores and plan local campaigns to complement Armstrong’s national consumer ad campaign, “It Only Looks Like The Real Thing.” The ads illustrate the realism of Armstrong’s laminate floors and feature professional look-a-likes of well-known celebrities, including Ms. Radner.
