Commercial flooring veteran Al Kabus has been named
president of The Mohawk Group. He will be responsible for overseeing sales,
marketing and customer operations for the business unit’s six commercial carpet
brands: Karastan Contract, Durkan Commercial, Durkan Hospitality, Lees Carpets,
Mohawk Commercial and Bigelow Commercial. Kabus has nearly 30 years of
experience in the interiors industry, including at the helm of several software
companies providing consulting services to the commercial segment.
“Al’s wealth of experience and
history of industry-changing ideas are ideally suited to The Mohawk Group’s
vision for the future of commercial flooring,” said Mohawk Industries president
Monte Thornton. “We are confident his creativity, strategic thinking and
dynamic approach to sales and marketing will fortify our already strong team,
and help us build even more solid relationships with our valued customers.”
Kabus has been focused on commercial
flooring for more than 20 years, including as a top executive at Bentley Mills
and Interface Workplace Solutions Group. According to Mohawk, he has
demonstrated “an innovative approach to sales and a strong personal commitment
to sustainability” during his career.
Since 2000, Kabus has been
involved in several software startups. These ventures include a software
company that specializes in digital imaging for the commercial interiors
industry ( BlueBolt Networks); and a consulting company that offers
cost/benefit analysis software of LEED ratings based on various criteria
(ecologic3).
