With an eye toward significantly increasing production of
its signature laminate flooring lines, Faus Group said it is investing $20
million into its Calhoun, Ga., plant. Plans call for the company to add a
second milling line designed to expand production by 100 million square feet a
year. Additionally, the company notes that four presses will be added. The planned
additions are expected to be up and running by 2008.
“We all know that the flooring
industry is presently going through a difficult economic situation,” said Juan
Flores, president of Faus Group. “However, we are making the additional $20
million investment because we are convinced it will maximize our efficiency in
the manufacturing of high-end laminate flooring, as well as positively
strengthen the company’s partnerships with key customers in the U .S. market.”
The company opened the 78-acre,
400,000 sq. ft. facility in Calhoun last year. Faus noted that the planned expansion
will result in substantial savings at the facility “by bringing manufacturing
proficiency and knowledge from Europe to Calhoun.”
