The debut of Martha Stewart’s area rug line for Safavieh, the opening of Afghan Impressions, America’s Magnificent Carpets Award, the return of MOI: Museum of Introductions, America’s Magnificent Carpet Awards, and the unveiling of Shaw Living’s new 12,000-sq.-foot showroom had retailers from around the world discovering new and exclusive products during the recently held Atlanta International Rug Market.
Highlighting the three-day event was America’s Magnificent Carpets Awards. Sponsored by Architectural Digest, honorees in the handmade categories include Rugs America, Capa Imports, F.J. Kashanian (a two-time winner), French Accents, Smyrna Trading, and Obeetee.
Honorees in the power-loomed category include Marsella Fine Rugs, Couristan (a two-time winner) and Karastan. Also awarded were: Chaman, antique category; Mat the Basics, Best Contemporary Design; and Best Rug by Retailer Vote/Buyer’s Choice, Anadol.
Also recognized was Shaw Living for Outstanding Visual display of its new showroom that boasts several features including: the latest in showroom design innovations; comfortable seating areas; Kin and Universal fixtures; ceramic metal halide lighting; rolling rack fixtures to showcase rugs vertically; and a complete rack of rugs divided by color family and substrate.
In addition to showcasing new products, Shaw’s new showroom also highlighted the company’s commitment to the environment through its new Green Edge program, which allows synthetic products such as carpet to be collected and recycled into new carpet.
