Capel has announced the resignation of Eric Birnbach as president and ceo after less than one year at that post. In making the announcement the company noted that Birnbach was "helpful in making the transition to third generation management following the retirement of the three Capel brothers on October 1, 2005."

Capel's chief financial officer, Bruce Hric, has been named acting ceo while a search for a new ceo. Hric has been with the company since 1998.

The company noted that over the past year, Capel has seen a number of transitional changes. Including showrooms that have "a new look and energy." In addition, "Capel's Zip Ship program has been improved, as has the Capel Anywhere indoor/outdoor rug collection," the company said.
