As it approaches its 90th birthday next year, the Roca Tile Group has announced a flurry of major changes. Included is a shift in its senior management, a relocation of both its headquarters and its distribution hub, and the opening of four regional distribution centers.
The company said Donald E. Olsen was departing as president of U.S. operations. Olsen, who has been with the company for 21 years served as president for the past five years. He is being succeeded by Agustin Lopez, a senior managing director for the company.
The company also said it plans to relocate its headquarters in the first half of 2007 from North Canton, Ohio to Miami, Fla. It will also move its distribution headquarters from Sacramento, Calif. to Long Beach, Calif. The company said the relocations reflect the direction of the business. "The move to the Los Angeles and Miami area position the company in the heart of the two largest U.S. tile markets in terms of consumption," the company said.
Two of the company's new regional distribution centers, one in Long Beach and the other in Houston, are up and running. Facilities in Miami and Savannah are scheduled to open in early 2007. When completed, the network of regional warehouses will encompass more than 750,000 sq. ft., the company says.
