C&A Floorcoverings, a Tandus company, has earned Environmentally Preferable Product (EPP) certification for its entire line of ER3 modular carpet and 6-foot structured back broadloom. C&A is the only carpet manufacturer to earn this landmark third-party designation for two entire product lines.

The certification was awarded by Scientific Certification Systems (SCS), an internationally respected, neutral third party testing and certification organization. Recognized by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the U.S. Green Building Council, SCS employs a rigorous process to certify claims. SCS offers a certification program for Environmentally Preferable Products and Services to address the growing demand for products that have the least impact on the environment.

Using a combination of resources, including ISO 14024 Principles and Procedures for Type I Environmental Labeling, EPA's Federal Guidance on Environmentally Preferable Purchasing and ASTM E2129 Data Collection for Sustainability of Building Products, SCS establishes a product's environmental preferability, including life-cycle impact assessment, risk assessment, and environmental resource-based studies, combined with knowledge of "best available" technologies and practices.
