The National Wood Flooring Association has released the first installment of a two-part study on moisture issues, through its Industry Research Foundation. Part I, "Concrete Slabs and Moisture Issues," addresses three key components, including concrete and cement chemistry, concrete and cement technology, and approaches to remedy problem slabs with high moisture content. The report further addresses moisture sources, both natural and artificial, and testing methods, including qualitative tests providing a general indication of moisture and quantitative tests providing the level of moisture present.

The NWFA established the Industry Research Foundation in 2002 to fund conduct research on products and issues related to wood flooring. The Foundation works to educate the public, promote safe products, preserve the environment, and conserve resources.

Part I of the moisture study is available to NWFA members on the NWFA's web site at www.nwfa.org. (Click on the Services & Supplies link, and select Business Publications. Additional reports will be added as studies are completed and become available.)
