Phoenix Automation, an Atlanta-based company, has introduced a new family of automation machines for the carpet industry. The VECS 3000 Automated Edge Rug Sewing Machine uses high-speed vision technology for automated processing and finishing of manually cut rugs, sewing a finished border around an area rug or bath mat.

The VECS 3000 is capable of running square corners, rounded corners, ovals and crescents. It controls the number of stitches around the corners, and ultrasonically seals the sew-off, according to the company. The machine can be partnered with the VECS 1000 Automated Vision Directed Slitting machine and the VECS 2000 Cross-Cutter.
