This summer's Atlanta Rug Market, held July 17-20 at the AmericasMart building in downtown Atlanta, showcased introductions and existing rug lines from 130 permanent exhibitors including Capel, Milliken, Shaw Living and Karastan. Held in conjunction with the Gift & Home Furnishings Market, the Rug Market brought in retailers and designers from across the spectrum.

AmericasMart also hosted a schedule of educational seminars covering a wide range of topics from retail tips to discussions on challenges facing the industry. In addition, the market played host to the 12th annual Rug Retailer of the Year awards.

With nominations made by AmercasMart area rug exhibitors, the awards honor outstanding achievement among the nation's top retailers. Nominees were voted on by an independent panel of industry experts. This year's winners were: The Mink Companies at Macy's East, New York, for Creative Selling; American Home of Albuquerque, for Outstanding Merchandising; Rug & Home, based in Gaffney, S.C., for Area Rug Specialty Store; Carpets of Dalton/American Home Showcase in Dalton, Ga., for Carpet & Rug Specialty Store; and Baer's Furniture, Boca Raton, Fla., for Furniture Retailer.

AmericasMart will host the next Atlanta Rug Market, Jan. 19-22, 2006.
