Since 1978, the Keep Georgia Beautiful Awards Program has honored individuals, organizations and businesses whose ongoing efforts prevent litter, reduce waste disposal through conservation and recycling, and preserve Georgia's natural and man-made beauty. Award categories include litter prevention, beautification, environmental improvement, waste minimization and community improvement.
The Environmental Improvement Award recognizes the efforts of educators, groups, and businesses who provide environmental education to a school, community or natural area. Efforts may include a combination of activities including litter prevention, beautification efforts, waste reduction (recycling, composting, source reduction) as well as water conservation.
