This high-speed line was built to meet the increasing demand for Durock, according to the company.
"The new line at the Baltimore plant will help U.S. Gypsum serve the needs of our East Coast cement board customers well into the future," said James Metcalf, senior vice president, USG Corp. and president, Building Systems. "This state-of-the-art cement board manufacturing facility further enhances our product distribution network."
The 90,000-sq.-ft. cement board line expansion created 35 new positions at the Baltimore plant. This plant also manufactures U.S. Gypsum's Sheetrock brand gypsum panels and plaster products.
With the opening of the Baltimore line, U.S. Gypsum now operates four cement board manufacturing facilities. The other lines are in Detroit, Mich., New Orleans, La., and Santa Fe Springs, Calif.
