The Floor Covering Installation Contractors Association's 19th annual convention took a giant step forward March 27-31 in New Orleans. Attendees and observers gave the convention high marks, generally agreeing that the FCICA rose to its highest level in providing education to its members.

Under the theme Investment in Education, the convention proved to be an excellent investment with exceptional returns for attendees. Noteworthy was the variety of subjects presented. The focus was on the industry's products, technical subjects, installation, business management, employee hiring and training, issues that affect a company's bottom line, and much more.

Among the topics covered were: Collection and Credit Procedures; Proper Adhesive Selection and Warranty; Recruitment and Retention of Employees; Implementing the Floorcovering Installation Training (FIT) Program; Moisture Emissions Testing; Improving Contractors' Installation Efficiency (tools, equipment, methods and procedures); Pattern Carpet Solutions; Carpet Backing Systems; Avoiding Failures Over Concrete Subfloors; Interpreting Carpet Problems and Solutions To Correct Them; and Resilient Installation Issues.
