Published by the Tile Council of America Inc. (TCA), the “2003-2004 Handbook for Ceramic Tile Installation, 41st Edition” details 14 new installation methods. A total of 221 revisions, additions and deletions were reviewed for submission to the new handbook by 44 of the industry’s leading trade associations, companies and experts, according to the TCA.
Major changes introduced in the handbook include sections on fiber-reinforced gypsum panel backerboard, extruded polystyrene backerboard, crack-isolation membranes, radiant heat systems, cork underlayment and OSB subfloors, revised countertop and steam room details, and additional movement joint details.
