The level of initial claims for state benefits slipped from a revised 414,000 in the prior week. The Labor Department had originally reported new claims in the Oct. 12 week at 411,000.
Jobless claims fall by 25,000
WASHINGTON -- New claims for state unemployment benefits fell last week by 25,000 to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 389,000, the Labor Department reported recently.
