Universal Metro, Inc., a commercial flooring contractor based in Huntsville, Alabama, announced its acquisition of Commercial Flooring Services (CFS) in partnership with industry veterans Grant and Courtney Petruzzelli. The deal marks a significant expansion into the Southeast market for Universal Metro while preserving the local legacy of CFS's founder, Randy Sexton.
Founded in 1995, CFS is a Starnet member with a strong reputation serving healthcare facilities, educational institutions, and government entities throughout Northern Alabama and Southern Tennessee. Under the new ownership, Grant Petruzzelli will lead CFS as president and managing partner, while Sexton will transition to an ambassador role.
"Randy Sexton built a business rooted in integrity, excellence, and a deep commitment to the community," said Dave Triepke, CEO of Universal Metro and Starnet board member. "This acquisition reflects our shared vision of honoring the legacies of respected leaders like Randy by strategically creating impactful opportunities for both current and future staff."
The partnership will bring technological advancement to CFS through Petruzzelli's company, Xcelrate, LLC, which will implement AI-driven solutions, including the SalesDriver platform, to enhance operational efficiency and customer service.
CFS will continue to operate as an independent division, serving its existing client base while pursuing growth opportunities across the Southeast region. The deal represents a departure from traditional private equity consolidation, focusing instead on maintaining local relationships while leveraging Universal Metro's national resources.
Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
