Pantone has selected Pantone 17-1230 Mocha Mousse as its Color of the Year 2025, marking a shift toward warm, nurturing tones that embrace luxury and natural authenticity.

The sophisticated brown hue, which evokes the comforting essence of chocolate and coffee, represents what Pantone describes as "thoughtful indulgence" in an era increasingly focused on finding harmony with the natural world. This selection follows 2024's Pantone 13-1023 Peach Fuzz, extending the company's focus on comfort and simple pleasures.

"Pantone 17-1230 Mocha Mousse expresses a level of thoughtful indulgence," said Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute. "Sophisticated and lush, yet at the same time an unpretentious classic, it extends our perceptions of browns from being humble and grounded to embrace aspirational and luxe."

The selection reflects broader cultural shifts toward environmental consciousness and the search for balance in modern life. Laurie Pressman, vice president of the Pantone Color Institute, notes that the color embodies "a culture of connection and unity as well as the synthesis of our mental, spiritual and physical well-being."

In celebration of the 26th anniversary of the Color of the Year program, Pantone is breaking new ground with global events and experiences. The celebration kicks off with a display at the lastminute.com London Eye, which will illuminate the London skyline in Mocha Mousse beginning December 5 at 6 pm GMT. This marks the first of many planned international celebrations, with events scheduled across major cities including New York, Shanghai, and Mumbai.

This global rollout represents Pantone's commitment to making color accessible to all, transforming what has traditionally been an industry-focused announcement into a worldwide cultural moment. The initiative will bring the warmth and sophistication of Mocha Mousse to public spaces around the globe throughout 2025.
