Celebrity interior designer Nikki Chu partnered with The Tile Shop to launch her debut tile collection, translating some of her most iconic rug and wallpaper patterns into a new medium. The collection, available now at tileshop.com and Tile Shop showrooms, features designs that are globally inspired by Chu’s travels to India, Bali, Indonesia, and Africa.
“A lot of my designs are inspired by textiles I’ve encountered in India, Bali, Indonesia and Africa,” Chu said. “I take that inspiration and distill the elements into pared-down, hand-drawn patterns that become very bold and graphic."
The Nikki Chu Tile collection includes three styles: Tangier, Zulu, and Luxor. Each style features a matte finish, hand-drawn patterns, and neutral colorways designed to mix and match.
Tangier, a 20” x 20” porcelain wall and floor tile, is derived from one of Chu’s most popular rug collections. The large-scale pattern, hand-drawn using Japanese markers, creates a bold and graphic statement in any space.
Zulu, an 8” x 8” ceramic wall and floor tile, draws inspiration from one of Chu’s popular wallpaper designs. The arched motif can be installed in various arrangements to create custom designs on floors and walls.
Luxor offers an elevated take on the classic subway tile. The 2.5” x 10” ceramic wall tile features a soft color palette, handmade texture and matte finish, adding a touch of sophistication to any space.
“My philosophy as a designer is about creating spaces that are unique, eclectic and layered,” Chu said. “The colors and patterns in my new collection really speak to that.”
