Fishman Flooring Solutions, a distributor of flooring and flooring installation supplies based in Baltimore, Maryland, has doubled the size of its Columbus, Ohio, warehouse to accommodate growing marketplace demand. The expansion increases the warehouse from 20,000 square feet to 40,000 square feet.
“At Fishman, we take a very strategic approach to expansion,” said Fishman Vice President Shane Richmond, who oversees operations for the company. “Doubling our warehouse space in Columbus increases our capacity to stock and ship products, which will result in faster delivery times and greater availability of the products we sell. It also allows us to have more flexibility in managing inventory levels, especially flooring products. In the end, the real beneficiaries of the warehouse expansion are our customers, who will have greater access to the products they need when they need them from us.”
This is Fishman’s second expansion of its Columbus warehouse since it entered the market in 2008. In 2017, the company increased its warehouse capacity there by 500 percent and added offices and a showroom.
Fishman reports it has made it a priority to upgrade its facilities over the past six years to better meet customer needs. In addition to expanding the Columbus, Ohio, warehouse, it has increased space at its Baltimore, Maryland, headquarters and relocated its Charlotte, North Carolina, and Raleigh, North Carolina, branches to larger buildings.
Over the same period, it has also opened new branches in Birmingham, Alabama; Savannah, Georgia; Louisville, Kentucky; Knoxville, Tennessee; and Nashville, Tennessee as part of its strategic growth plan. The company now has 39 branches and does business in 15 states and the District of Columbia.
