Tile of Spain, the international brand representing more than 100 ceramic tile manufacturers belonging to the Spanish Ceramic Tile Manufacturer’s Association (ASCER), presents “Seating Experiments with Spanish Ceramic Tile,” an architectural installation composed by renowned designer, Tomás Alonso. Debuting at Fuori Salone, a series of events held during Salone, from April 17-23, 2023 in Milan, Italy, the installation is featured in one Interni Magazine’s six showrooms, Università degli Studi di Milano, better known as La Statale, in Via Festa del Perdono 7, in the Brera neighborhood.
The installation has been deliberately developed to analyze the different types of human interaction that take place in divergent micro-environments, centering around the activity of sitting. To foster this experiment, the exhibition features a multitude of seating areas each defined with the help of miniature walls. Each section offers its own spatial personality with a variety of textures, colors and formats through the use of ceramic tiles.
The 16 Spanish manufacturers participating in this installation are: Arcana, Argenta, Azteca, Ceracasa, Cevica, Decocer, Dune, Estudio Cerámico, Gayafores, Porcelanosa, Roca Tiles, Saloni, Tempio, Vives, Wow Design and ZYX. The pieces are designed to be reused and continue their function in another public or private space in the city of Milan, following the event.
