ISE Logik announced the successful completion of an extensive Life Cycle Assessment study conducted by Sustainable Solutions Corp. of Royersford, Pennsylvania, and the certification by UL Environment of an Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) for its MVRA 900 Moisture Vapor Reduction Admixture.
According to a recent review of published EPD data, MVRA 900 is the first, and only, concrete moisture vapor emission control product warranted to 100% RH to qualify for and receive an EPD.
“This is a momentous step for ISE Logik and underscores our commitment to sustainable design,” remarked Dean Craft, principal. “We are proud to have brought to market the most cost-effective, and environmentally conscious approach to eliminating the negative issues of concrete moisture vapor emissions that plague project schedules and budgets.”
The EPD is the standardized tool that facilitates that specification effort; and, illustrates ISE Logik’s commitment to the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development by “…integrating sustainability information into its reporting cycle…”, enabling project owners, designers, and builders to use that information in pursuit of achieving several of the Agenda 2030 goals, according to Craft.
“Further, one of the fundamental goals of the International Energy Agency’s (IEA) “Net Zero by 2050” is for all new buildings to be zero-carbon ready by 2030. To achieve this, design choices cannot simply revolve solely around energy efficiencies, but must also include an evaluation of the life cycle carbon impact of all the products, processes, and systems used in new construction.”
“By eliminating the need for any field moisture tests and topically applied moisture mitigation systems (and their associated petrochemical derived products and test apparatuses) and all the associated transportation to effect that process, no other concrete moisture vapor emission process contributes more to achieve net-zero than MVRA 900,” said Craft.
This declaration is an environmental product declaration (EPD) in accordance with ISO 14025, ISO 14040, and EN 15804+A2.
