Armstrong Flooring was named the business winner in the 30th annual Environmental Excellence Awards sponsored by Keep Oklahoma Beautiful, as a result of environmental stewardship efforts at the company’s Stillwater plant.
Armstrong Flooring redesigned its felt-backed vinyl sheet flooring product which has been manufactured in Stillwater, Oklahoma since 1987. The redesign, which began June 2020, replaced the traditional felt backing. By the end of 2020, the redesign project will reduce process waste being sent to the landfill and will increased the plant’s overall annual waste recovery rate.
“Armstrong Flooring is committed to improving the quality of life in the communities where we operate,” said Melissa Gazaway, operations manager in Stillwater. “In keeping with that spirit, the Stillwater plant has a long history of reducing its environmental footprint and continuously looking for ways to produce flooring in a sustainable manner.”
Armstrong Flooring’s Stillwater facility produces sheet flooring products for use in homes and businesses. The plant, at 4115 North Perkins Road, employs approximately 80 people.
