Daltile recently helped the Gary Sinise Foundation provide a new home for wounded veteran Rico Roman and his family. The home is the 64th home built by the Gary Sinise Foundation’s R.I.S.E. program. Daltile donated tile and porcelain slab products for the home’s bathrooms, kitchen, fireplace, and laundry room.
“Daltile is honored to help the Gary Sinise Foundation provide this deserving hero and his family with a beautiful, new, specially adapted home to ease their daily burdens and help them live their family life to the fullest,” said Paij Thorn-Brooks, vice president of marketing for Dal-Tile Corporation.
Through the R.I.S.E. program, the Gary Sinise Foundation constructs one-of-a-kind specially adapted smart homes for our nation’s most severely wounded heroes. These 100% mortgage-free homes ease the daily challenges faced by these wounded heroes and their families.
“At the Gary Sinise Foundation, we believe that giving heroes like Rico Roman a new home is the least we can do to honor their service and the sacrifices they made,” said Elizabeth Fields, chief operating office of the Gary Sinise Foundation. “One of the things that makes R.I.S.E. truly unique is that we tailor the homes to meet the specific needs of our wounded heroes, many of whom have severe injuries from combat. The Gary Sinise Foundation provides these heroes with the resources they need to regain their mobility and independence.”
Daltile Products Featured In The Roman’s New Home
“The Daltile products they selected are based on traditional looks or colors, but all feature a completely modern interpretation,” said Laura Grilli, lead product designer for Daltile. “For example, Daltile’s beautiful Multitude white that was used in the master bathroom provides the nice, bright foundation of a white tile, but also features tactile and visually wavy movement in 3D designs. This type of tactile experience is extremely popular in wall tile and upgrades a traditional solid tile wall to one where the 3D texture and the wavy movement are relaxing, creating the concept of the ‘spa at home’ feeling that has become so important in today’s master bathrooms. In the kitchen, Daltile’s Geometric Fusion white is a way of enriching a wall, that would have normally been simply white, into one that features the contemporary look of broken geometries, a 3D effect, and glossy/matte contrast, all creating an interesting visual with very nice light reflections and style. Also, the tile they selected for the fireplace, Daltile’s Articulo, is based on the traditional warm grey look of travertine stone with the added modernity of a linear twist inherent in the product’s design and the vertical installation of the tiles.”
The full list of Daltile products featured in the Roman home includes: Articulo, Fabric Art, Multitude, Memoir, Quartetto, Revalia, Geometric Fusion, and Panoramic Porcelain Surfaces.
