Steven Lagrou, V.P. of Sales and Marketing for the M-D PRO division at M-D Canada, a division of M-D Building Products, will be retiring at the end of this month.

Lagrou started his career in the floor covering industry as an installer back in 1973. He then moved into distribution where he was a partner in the Gerlinger Equipment Company out of Michigan and Ohio. It was during his time at Gerlinger where he became acquainted with the Loxcreen Flooring Group (operating today as M-D PRO) as a customer of theirs.

“The Flooring Industry has been my whole working career - from on my knees in the early seventies to Distribution and ending in Manufacturing. This small industry has been the vehicle that allowed me to extend my family with wonderful lifelong relationships that I will cherish forever. Time does pass quickly they say, may be a cliché but it is so very, very true. It is that time to move on and start another chapter in my life...” Lagrou reflects.

He and his partners sold the business in the early 2000’s and after a brief hiatus and attempt at retiring, the Loxcreen Flooring Group was successful in convincing Steven to join the organization.

“We have worked together for almost 15 years now and Steve has built long-lasting professional and personal relationships within our organization and with many of our customers,” Joe Comitale, president of M-D Canada comments. “Anyone that has spent any time with Steve will immediately understand that he is a man of principle and of great integrity which has served him well in his long career.” Comitale continues, “he has represented himself and our organization with professionalism. We will all miss his wisdom, calming nature and insight that helped us achieve success in the Pro Flooring market.”

Lagrou will continue to offer his expertise to M-D PRO on an as-needed, consulting basis and will help in the transition to the new V.P. of Sales, who will be named in the coming months. This transition plan is set to ensure the business continues to move forward while maintaining the tenets of the M-D PRO business philosophy intact.
