Embracing Tarkett’s commitment to sustainability and following the path started in European Tarkett facilities with 250 or more employees, the Florence East facility was the first Tarkett North America location to achieve ISO 50001 Ready status. Already certified to ISO 9001 (quality), ISO 14001 (environmental), and OHSAS 18001 (health and safety management), the Florence East facility has worked with the strategic energy management (SEM) program of its utility, the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA), for the past year to achieve this certification. This program helped Florence East implement key elements of its energy management system.
ISO 50001 is an energy management certification. By promoting effective energy usage, this certification helps organizations save money, while also protecting resources and tackling climate change. Florence East's energy management system is now in line with ISO 50001 and earned official recognition from the U.S. Department of Energy as a 50001 Ready facility. By implementing projects and racking up energy savings, Florence East is on track to potentially exceed its 2020 goal to reduce energy use 20% from 2010 levels.
