Karastan is introducing collections and rugs in warm, soft, naturally renewable New Zealand wool and silky wool/viscose blends for the winter markets.
Karastan’s Manifesto Collection offers a global feel in eight rugs woven of pure New Zealand wool on Van De Weile looms in the U.S. This space-dyed collection uses 10 colors, but each color has six components so there are actually 50-60 colors in each rug, according to the company. The palette includes creams, silvery gray, slate and neutrals mixed with sea glass, tobacco and rosewood.
Manifesto’s patterns include Persian designs such as Sultanabads, Khotans and Agras. There are also more transitional patterns that incorporate repeating medallions and art deco feels.
The Titanium Collection offers a textural, casual feel. The patterns of the rugs in this collection are distressed traditional and transitional motifs. Some patterns are distressed to the point where the pattern nearly disappears, giving a very worn textural appearance, which lends the rugs a more casual and modern feel. Made of a blend of New Zealand wool and viscose fiber, they have a combination of a matte and sheen effect. The colors in this collection are quiet and understated neutrals that are enlivened with metallic-looking viscose yarns.
Robin’s Egg Anastasia joins Karastan’s Sovereign Collection, an elegant collection that has a regal ambiance, lush designs and stunningly rich colors. Anastasia is multicolored with pops of red, indigo and gold, while the new robin’s egg version is more calm and serene with watery aqua blue, mocha and cream.
Relaxed elegance for everyday living is the hallmark of the rugs in Karastan’s English Manor Collection, according to the company. English Manor rugs are known for their time-proven colors: rich garnet red, navy and slate blue, gold and tan.
Karastan will be sponsoring a get-together at the Atlanta Market to view its new collections and the debut of its exciting limited edition rug, Panel Kirman Granite. Mugs N’ Suds will be held from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. on Jan. 13 at the Karastan booth AmericasMart 3-A-1.
